Arundel, South Downs


Stats:  24.5km (15.2miles) with 515 metres of climbing. 1.5-2.5hrs.

Start/Finish: Fitzalan Pool car park, Arundel. GR: TQ 021/069. Postcode: BN18 9NZ. Other car parks in Arundel too, and at Whiteways by Houghton Forest on the route. There is also a train station in Arundel.

Route summary: A great XC loop across the South Downs hills, with a huge great big long downhill trail and some nice singletrack along the way. There are some good trails in Houghton Forest worth exploring along the way too.

Location details: Arundel is situated in the South Downs National Park, just north of Bognor Regis on the coast. The picturesque market town is surrounded by some great rolling downland for some big epic XC rides, as well as a number of woodlands and forests which have plenty of fun singletrack for those who wish to explore off piste.

Lots of choice of refreshments in Arundel and on the route in Houghton (pub) and a snack hut in the Houghton Forest car park.
