Prepare to embark on an extraordinary cycling journey through some of the most rugged and breathtaking terrains in South East Wales. The Black Mountains Challenge is a thrilling off-road, mixed-terrain, self-supported bike packing event that will test your endurance and love for adventure. Starting and finishing in Llanellen, Abergavenny, this epic 195-mile route will take you on a wild ride through the heart of the Black Mountains and beyond.

Your adventure begins with a departure from Llanellen Hall, Abergavenny, leading you deep into the remoteness of the Black Mountains. You’ll encounter challenging terrain, winding trails, and stunning views that will leave you wanting more. The route then takes you across the Black Mountains, through the only Checkpoint on the route which riders will pass through twice and on towards the renowned Brecon Gap, a familiar yet always inspiring location for cyclists.
