Castlewellan Trails


One of Northern Ireland's most famous lakes, a stunning Victorian Castle, incredible panoramic views and flowing singletrack; all just minutes from the lively village of Castlewellan. With green, blue and red grade trails (the latter includes black options) and a pump track.

19km Red Trail (with black options): Flowing singletrack, fun descents and can be rocky in places The red and blue start together then split. The red descent down Slievenaslat has a black more technical option. There are two main black options on this trail 'Dolly's Chute' and 'The Great Escarpe'.

4.5km Blue Trail: Runs along the lake and woodland on singletrack and returns via the green trail. Expect gentle rollers and flowing singletrack.

4km Gree Trail: Runs in a loop around the lake with the castle in view. Mostly flat and quite wide. Family friendly.

Pump Track: WIth many rollers and berms with multiple lines and choices.

WHERE: Castlewellan Forest Park, Castlewellan BT31 9BU (30 miles south of Belfast). Castlewellan Forest Park is located off Main Street. Follow the forest road (one way) down to the lake and keep left. The trailhead car park will be on your left hand side.
