Calder Divide Trail

The Calder Divide Trail is a 150 mile (240km) circular route tracing the watershed of the River Calder in West Yorkshire. It is suitable for a mountain bike or a gravel bike. It is 80% off road.

The Calder Divide Trail Challenge inaugural event takes place on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September 2022 beginning at 7am on Saturday and runs till 7pm on Sunday. The event is in aid of Overgate Hospice. It will have three routes especially curated for the event, ranging from 102 miles and 9,000 feet of climbing to 152 miles with 13,100 feet of cumulative climbing. It starts in Mytholmroyd and goes through Hebden Bridge then up onto the 'tops'.

Both the trail and the challenge use gravel tracks on the floodplain, ancient bridleways along the ridges, singletrack across the Pennine Moors, Sustrans greenways along the urban fringe and sunken lanes along wooded valleys. It is epic.

They are a unique opportunity to trace the River Calder from its beginnings on the moors above Todmorden to its confluence with the River Aire at Castleford. With 4,000 metres of climbing it is an intermediate level bike packing route that can be completed in two to three days.
