Pictish Trail

An epic journey of 750 kilometers that begins from the most northerly point of the British mainland at Dunnet Head, heading south to Edinburgh, the new Pictish Trail bikepacking route traverses the ancient Pictish kingdoms as it connects the mainland's most northerly point to the country's capital, Edinburgh.

A mixture of terrain along the way, with a variety of incredible landscapes from the wild north coast to the southern Cairngorms, passing Golspie, Inverness, Ballater and Dundee on the way to the big city lights of Edinburgh. Designed as a mixed-surface route, for anything from a gravel bike to a fast-rolling mountain bike is suitable.

NOTE: The route is not marked, but you can download the GPX file from us. It is fairly remote at times in the Flow Country and the Cairngorms, but outside of those sections, towns with cafés and food shops are never that far away.
