Dog (drinking) water bottle
I've long made do with a collapsable bowl and a standard water bottle when riding with my dog, but it is a bit slow and cumbersome getting it out the rucksack. ANother issue I have is that I often waste water when my dog decides he doesn't want any (more).
I recently saw this bottle from Saltrock so got myself one, hoping it would fit in a standard bicycle water bottle cage on the frame, and it DOES!
Product Features:
- Refillable water bottle
- Foldaway compartment for easy drinking for your dog
- Button operated so there are no leaks
- Loop hole strap for carrying on the go
In use: In the frame mount bottle cage I didn't have any issues with it bouncing out, even on a rigid MTB, but if you (too) like to hammer down rough descents I found that I could flip the bottle over as the 'top' is slightly flared, which provided a more snug fit and put any gremlins to bed about losing it down a bumpy track. It's also perfectly waterproof when closed so nothing dribbled out when it was this way up either.
The clamshell design flips open to provide a nice size and shaped drinking trough, with a good width to provide a good depth of water (to lap up) without needing too much volume. Pressing the button sends a flow of water into the trough and what I especially love is that when there is invariably some water left over, you can tip the bottle/trough up and depress the button again to let the water flow back into the bottle. Perfect, no waste. Although you'll want to remember not to take a swig from it yourself if you do this!
Details: It carries 380ml and is 76x72x201mm in size, weighing in at 216grams and is made of ECO friendly ABS material, providing a safe and non-toxic and costs just £12 which I think its also great value for money.
Definitely gets the Rough Ride Guide (and Rocky dog) seal of approval, so much so that I got myself a 2nd one immediately.
Free delivery on orders of £50+, but they have plenty of clothes, many in the sale, which'll help you get there.
