Immerse yourself in 10,000 years of history by riding this 350km loop around historic Wessex, the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Alfred the Great. The route starts and ends in Winchester where Alfred is buried, and connects iconic monuments including Stonehenge, Avebury stone circle, Iron Age hill forts, Farnham Castle, and Winchester and Salisbury Cathedrals. If riding this iconic route with some of the hassle taken out of it appeals to you then join us for this supported, self-guided riding adventure.

We will meet riders each morning for a daily briefing, advice and information, take your luggage (on to the next hotel) and provide assistance and refreshments, plus tools and spare parts through the day, giving you the peace of mind to relax and fully enjoy this epic riding experience. 

We have reserved accommodation for the ride where possible although you will be responsible for booking and paying separately for it. Once you have purchased a ticket we will send you information about the accommodation so that you can do this. To get an idea of the of the cost of accommodation please budget for £39 per person per night based on two people sharing and including breakfast. Single occupancy would be on average £70 per night. Note: A shorter distance on day 1 allows for a more relaxed start and time to visit the sites of interest found along this leg of the ride. 

Day 1 - Winchester to Amesbury - 56km 

Day 2 - Amesbury to Marlborough - 75km

Day 3 - Marlborough to Reading - 77km

Day 4 - Reading to Haslemere - 77km

Day 5 - Haslemere to Winchester 81km

What we do: Before the event we offer advice and guidance, gpx files, daily route description with route profile and refreshment stops. Each day we meet you for a daily briefing, providing useful information and advice, take your luggage (on to the next hotel) and provide mechanical (and emotional) assistance along the way.

Twice daily we will meet you with refreshments along the way, offering water top-ups, tea & coffee, amazing homemade cakes and flapjack plus savoury snacks and sweets. Support vehicles will also stock a selection of spare parts and a spare bike, and if needed, we will source rarer and specific parts to the best of our ability, giving you peace of mind to relax and enjoy the ride, and the confidence that you will be able to complete this epic ride. Or a ride in the van if all else fails.

COVID: In the eventuality that we have to cancel the event due to Covid, we will offer an alternative date. If you are unable to attend on the new date we will refund you in full. We strongly recommend you have travel insurance to cover for personal illness.
