">London to Brighton Off-road at Night Event 12th June 2021
RRP £60
OUR PRICE £50
You’ve probably heard of the London to Brighton Off-road (L2BOR) event, which we run with the British Heart Foundation every September. Well now we've just upped the ante; tweaked the route and are tackling it through the night! This is not a race – it’s a social ride and adventure; a bit of fun and challenge to enjoy with like-minded riders. This will be a relatively small and intimate event with rider numbers currently capped at 150 (please note this is subject to covid restrictions at the time).
Stats: 102km with 1,275 metres of climbing
Start: East Molesey Cricket Club, London, KT8 9AL Finish: Brighton seafront, BN3 2WN
Terrain: A mix of dirt, gravel, tarmac, roots, sand, stone and grass. Some roots and rough tracks along the way, so best suited to a hardtail MTB, although experienced riders could use a CX or gravel bikes.
Route Description: Starting at Molesey Cricket Club Park, near Hampton Court, the route heads out of London, off-road, along riversides and canal paths as the sun starts to fade, before crossing the M25 motorway where it hits the proper dirt trails and plunges you into the dark dead of night, amongst the owls, badgers and bats! With steeper gradients, roots and singletrack it's an entertaining ride as you cross the North Downs. Once we emerge from the woods we will refuel in Cranleigh and join the Downs Link Path, for a welcome respite and get some easier miles under our wheels. There is still another big climb to come still though, which delivers you up onto the South Downs, but with the sun now rising the sky is bursting into colour and you can see Brighton and the welcoming coastline down below. All that's left is a fast and fun descent down to the lights below, and a spin along the promenade, for a well deserved breakfast in Brighton.
What we provide: Signed route, gpx and pdf route map, support riders, sweep vehicle, bag transfer, checkpoints along the route with drinks and snacks.
What you provide: A fully working and suitable bike, full lights with a back up light, breakfast in Brighton (although we have commandeered a cafe that will open early to sell us bacon sarnies - hurray!!)
NOTE: Riders need to be well experienced and comfortable with riding at night. We reserve the right to refuse participation if we deem your bike or lights to be unsuitable for the ride.
Overnight parking: Available at the start (cricket club) for £10 - ticket available in our shop
Shuttle bus back to the start: We will run be running 2 mini-bus shuttle runs back to the start - tickets available in our shop
