Dirt tracks cover the New Forest making this one of the centres of gravel riding in the UK. This beautiful area is often busy with tourists so getting off road is the best way to see this glorious part of the UK. Our 79km loop from Ashurst is on mostly rolling terrain and is ideal for newer gravel riders or anyone wanting a fun few hours on the bike. The course is 60% on gravel & 40% on the quiet roads with the highlights being the rolling terrain around Fritham where the path opens up to sweeping views & a great stretch of gravel between Ringwood & Lyndhurst before we head back to a pub finish for a social pint.
Event Director's Notes:
A rolling 79km loop from Ashurst taking in some of the best gravel tracks in the New Forest. Perfect for new & experienced gravel riders alike, the route alternates between tarmac & gravel, mostly on wider tracks with few technical sections. Some of the best gravel riding of the route is around Fritham. The route first winds through densely wooded forest and a few punchy ‘climbs’. After a little while the trees clear to expose views across the whole Fritham plain. After this the track opens up to sweeping views between Ringwood & Lyndhurst before a quick section home for a beer.
