Moab Gravel, USA

This big 122km has a chunky 1,965 metres of climbing in it too, but there is 30km along the Colorado River if starting from Moab, on tarmac, before the gravel loop around Dead Horse Point State Park starts.

The route takes in the likes of the Potash Evaporation Ponds, Thelma & Luoise Point, Shafter Trail hairpins and Long Vanyon Road before it turns tail and heads back to Moab.

Note: Moab has around 5,000 full-time inhabitants, but up to 5 million visitors a year, and around 40,000 visitors at once in the high-season!

Top Tip: The Slickrock MTB trail here is awesome too, and hire bikes are available from in the town.
