Description: A great mix of steep, technical singletrack trails through the lesser ridden parts of Dartmoor, coupled with some easy, picturesque permissive trails.
Directions: Go right at the crossroads on the B3212, then bear left after 1km on to a bridleway going uphill. Turn right at the top on to the road and follow it to rejoin the B3212, then take the first road on the left heading uphill. Go straight ahead at the crossroads at the top and follow the path downhill to rejoin the B3212 in Doccombe.
Take the first left, uphill, keeping ahead between the moors (right) and fields (left), to a wide dirt track at the top and go right on this. The track soon fades but keep ahead to a tree-lined track, dropping downhill to bring you back to the B3212. Turn left on to the B3212 and after 0.5km go right on a track, uphill, which then drops back down to the B3212 at Steps Bridge.
Go over the bridge and turn immediately left onto the bridleway. Follow the bridleway beside the river for 3km and join the road (left) to the crossroads at Clifford Cross and turn left there. Cross the bridge, keep right at the fork then bear right off-road on a permissive bridleway and follow this for 4km until you reach the Fingle Bridge.
Keep ahead to cross the road, with the river still on your right and then bear left before turning right onto the minor road that brings you to the A382, where you’ll turn right. Go right at the crossroads in Sandy Park, towards Castle Drogo and look for the sharp right turn to join the Hunter’s Path bridleway. Follow this, keeping right to drop to Fingle Bridge.
Cross the bridge and bear right up the steep, wide, bridleway track. Turn right when you reach the road at the top, then take the next road on the left and turn left a short way down that road onto a bridleway across the fields and moors, before the farm. Turn left when you reach the road, then right at the junction and right at the Little Woosten T-junction (signed Moretonhampstead).
Keep ahead where road joins from the left, then left (Exeter), looking for the short bridleway post on the right, downhill after 0.75km. Continue downhill and right to retrace your steps, back to Moretonhampstead.
