The Colliers Way is part of National Route 24 of the National Cycle Network, that will eventually provide a continuous cycle route all the way to Southampton and Portsmouth, as well as a link to Poole via National Route 25 and Weymouth via National Route 26.
This route makes use of disused railway lines to provide traffic-free walking and cycling, connected by quiet country lanes, between Dundas Aqueduct, Radstock and Fromeoffering mainly traffic-free cycling, perfect for novice cyclists and families.
Note: The spectacular Dundas Aqueduct, which carries the Kennet & Avon canal over the River Avon, has a visitor centre with refreshments and other facilities including boat trips.
Where: Starting just outside the city of Bath, the route extends from Limpley Stoke Valley in the north to Frome Valley in the south, taking you through the heart of some of the most beautiful Somerset countryside, and some of its prettiest villages.
There are several interesting artworks along the route, including a ‘Linear Orchard’ of English apple trees planted at intervals to highlight Somerset’s disappearing orchards, and to echo self-seeded trees along the route (as a result of apple cores being thrown from trains!).
