London to Brighton Off-road at Night Event - June 2025

RRP £80
OUR PRICE £60

We'll be taking a break in 2024 but will be back in 2025 on the 21st June for more fun in the dark!

Book your early ticket now to secure your place and early bird price - and if your circumstances change we offer full refunds up to 13 weeks before the event.

The ride: We deigned and organised the London to Brighton Off-road around 20 years ago now and have helped run the event for the British Heart Foundation, raising millions of pounds for life saving research, and become Europe's largest off-road charity bike ride. Well now we've upped the ante; tweaked the route and are tackling it through the night!

It's not a race, it's a fun and social ride, offering the support and opportunity to attempt a unique adventure and experience that will live long in your memory. Perhaps it may even provide the challenge and structure for you to raise some money for a charity of your choice.

The route is signed, we have staff riders on the route, support vehicles, mechanics, first aiders and checkpoints along the way with free hot & cold refreshments, and breakfast on the beach at the end.

Free parking is available at the start and an optional shuttle bus for riders and bikes to get back to London.

E-bikes are very welcome but remember it's a 100km ride! If you carry your charger, you should be able to give the battery a quick 30min charge at the halfway point (only)!

If you are interested in some E-assistance, check out Cannon Ball Bikes based in Brighton, who are happy to rent out E-MTB's for this event.

Stats: 95km with 1,225 metres of climbing

Start: 10pm at Elmbridge Xcel Sports Hub, Walton-on-Thames, KT12 2JG

Finish: Sunrise at Carats cafe, Hove, BN41 1WD

Terrain: A mix of dirt, gravel, tarmac, roots, sand, stone and grass. Some roots and rough tracks along the way, so best suited to a hardtail MTB, although it is still very doable on a gravel bike.

This is not a race – it’s a social ride and adventure; a bit of fun and challenge to enjoy with like-minded riders. This will be a relatively small and intimate event with rider numbers capped and of course be subject to covid restrictions at the time.

LIGHTS: We love the amazing (British) Exposure lights. Not cheap, but amazing design, quality and warranty. Their online Outlet store can provide some bargains too. If you require bang-for-buck budget lights though we can also recommend these and these.

Route Description: Starting beside the River Thames, near Hampton Court, the route heads out of London, off-road, along riversides and canal paths as the light starts to fade. After crossing the M25 motorway you hit some proper dirt trails which plunge you into the dark, amongst the owls, badgers and bats! With steeper gradients, roots and singletrack it's an entertaining ride as you cross the North Downs.

Once you emerge from the woods you will be able to refuel at the 2nd checkpoint in Cranleigh after which you now join the Downs Link trail, offering easier navigation and trails for a welcome respite. There is still another big climb to come, which will deliver you up onto the South Downs, and as the sky starts to brighten all that's left is a fast and fun plummet down towards the lights of Brighton. A short spin along the sea front will lead you to the finish and a well-deserved breakfast on the seafront at Rockwater Hove. All that's left for you to decide on is whether to go for a celebratory dip in the sea.
